About once a month I receive a postcard addressed simply to “occupant.” It has a picture of a lost child on the front. The message on the back asks anyone with information about the child to call the authorities.

Usually I say a silent prayer for the child and his or her parents. For an agonizing moment I think of the parents, of their desperate anxiety about their missing child.

Then sometimes it occurs to me that God is searching for everyone who does not know Him personally with more desperation than we can even imagine. God’s love for us is awesome and unreserved. He will not force His way into our hearts, but He keeps knocking at the door.

Today is a wonderful time to welcome Jesus Christ into your heart. Even the angels in Heaven will celebrate the fact that a lost child has been found.
