Little Jeremy was taking a walk with his grandfather when a stranger stopped in front of them and asked, “How old are you, little boy?” “Three,” Jeremy replied. “And when will you be four?” Jeremy thought for a moment and replied, “When I’m through being three.”
There is a kind of rushing toward the future that can rob us of the glory and specialness of today. We Christians are supposed to savor each day as a precious gift of God.
“This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
