In the early years of Christianity, unwanted babies in Rome were left for the animals to devour or were raised as slaves. But then members of the new religion, “Christians” they were called, began to take those outcast newborns in and care for them. They remembered what Christ had said: “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not.” Before long the babies were being left on the doorsteps of these Christians. Instinctively, mothers knew that giving children to the Christians was better than abandoning them to the elements.
What if our local churches took responsibility for unwanted babies, paid the mother’s hospital expenses, and found homes where they would be wanted and loved? That would do more damage to the pro-abortion movement than all the laws ever passed.
“For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men” (I Peter 2:15). Always has been, Always will be.
