The following lines were written by an inspired, unknown author: “And I asked the man who stood at the gate of the year: ‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’ And he replied: ‘Go out into the darkness and put thy hand into the hand of God; that shall be to thee better than a light and safer than a known way.”

A similar assurance is given in Lamentations 3:21-23: “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
