In a Chicago fire in 1984, firefighters discovered the bodies of a mother and five children huddled in an apartment kitchen. It was clear that the mother could have escaped with two or three of the children. But she couldn’t bear to leave any of them. All of them died of smoke inhalation.

That mother’s love had God’s fingerprints all over it. In every generation there are some righteous persons. God could have taken those and split, letting the others go literally to hell. But God’s great heart wouldn’t allow it. So, he came to earth as a baby born in a manger. He died on a cruel cross and arose on Easter morning, All that because his great love compelled him to do everything divinely possible to save us.
