NEEDED: MALE ROLE MODELS
Entertainer Garth Brooks skipped a ceremony in which he was to receive the Entertainer of the Year award. Why? Because his wife was about to give birth to their second child. Brooks said, “Being there for mom is one of the most important roles in fatherhood.”
Now more than ever, our children need fathers. More than 40 percent of our children don’t live in homes with biological fathers. Many more live in homes where the fathers are not emotionally present. A child is born to an unwed mother every 26 seconds in America.
For the sake of American children, men must assume man-sized responsibilities. In addition to caring for our own children, we must reach out to those who have no male role model, by working in organizations like the Boy Scouts and Big Brothers. Now more than ever, our children need to see real manhood.
