More than 2,000 pygmies from Central Africa have accepted Christ. Evangelists from Colorado Springs-based “Every Home for Christ” (EHC) travel 11 days by canoe to reach the remote Ituri rain forest in Zaire. There they enter a clearing and play a cassette of the gospel in their native dialect, put to music. After 30 or 40 minutes, natives begin to stir and leave their hiding places in the forest.
EHC President Dick Eastman said, “When a pygmy repents, it is one of the most amazing things you will ever see. Pygmies consider themselves inferior to outsiders and rarely make eye contact with them. But when they pray to receive Christ they weep and sob at first. And then they lift their eyes and look at you, and the biggest smile comes across their faces.”
Jesus said, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:11).
