Paul Anderson of Tekoa, Georgia is the only American ever to have won a gold medal in Olympic weight-lifting. Paul is a dedicated Christian who has founded three homes for orphaned children. He often visits churches, putting on demonstrations of power lifting and witnessing for Christ. I watched Paul lift a wooden platform with ten grown men on it.
Afterward Paul said to the congregation: “You can see that I have lots of muscle. But I must admit something. On my own I’m a pushover. The devil can beat me in ten different ways, with one of his hands tied behind his back. I have lots of muscle but little real power. But the Christ in Paul Anderson is greatest power in the world. As the Scripture declares, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’” (Phil. 4:13).
