ENCOUAGEMENT

Nathaniel Hawthorne worked at the customs house in Boston.  When there was a change in administrators there, he lost his job.  He went home dejected and almost desperate.  He was worried about his family, and in particular how his wife would take the news.

Instead of reproaching him when she found out, his wife set pen and ink on the dining room table.  She lit the fireplace, put her arms around his shoulders, and said, “Now you will be able to write your book.”

Hawthorne was comforted and started work on a novel.  It turned out to be The Scarlet Letter.  This was his first step in a most successful writing career.

Could someone in your circle of acquaintances need a word of encouragement today?
