This is a dangerous world for children. Approximately 2.4 million American children are physically abused every year. In Boston alone, 40,000 kids have been sexually assaulted before they reach their sixteenth birthdays.

The United Nations estimates that about 40 million street kids around the world live in doorways, under bridges and even in junk cars.

Not all of children’s hurts are physical. Every year 2 million American kids discover that their parents are divorcing. Recently, I received a scrawled note from and 8-year-old. It said, “Please pray for my Mom and Dad. They are getting a divorce. Please help them be nice to each other.”

If you want to make a difference in this world, reach out beyond your family to one hurting child.
