Thought for the Day

Newsweek magazine reported recently on a new health phenomenon. Some people are turning into perpetual plastic-surgery patients. They go from face-lift to face-lift in search of physical perfection. Take Barbara, for example. She has gone under the knife six times in the last 10 years. Her new nose was not even six months old before she was back for a revision.

Many of these patients don’t like themselves very much. When they were very young, someone taught them that they were not worth much. They keep hoping surgery will fix a problem that really goes much deeper.

Here is one of those places where Christianity is revolutionary. It declares that you were created in the very image of God. You are an absolute original, infinitely precious, and beloved by God. If you believe that, you can’t help but like yourself.
